DELPRO Wind successfully supported Siemens Gamesa in the installation and hot commissioning of all 67 Siemens Gamesa SWT-6.0-154 turbines during the installation phase of the Veja Mate Offshore Wind Farm. Twelve specially trained high voltage technicians worked full time on a two-shift rotation 24/7 on the two vessels in close collaboration with Siemens Gamesa’s installation leads and the remaining crew.

“It has been a very exciting and significant project,” said Head of Division Wind at DELPRO Wind, Ole Kjær. “The close cooperation between all involved, from the vessels as well as back offices between Siemens Gamesa and DELPRO Wind, was a key reason for the success of the project.”

The last of the 67 turbines was commissioned on Wednesday 31st May at the 402MW Veja Mate offshore wind farm – four months ahead of schedule, less than 14 months from the start of the construction phase and 23 months after the financial close of the project.

The two jack-up vessels working on the project out of the Port of Esbjerg in Denmark were Fred. Olsen Windcarrier’s Bold Tern and Seajacks’ Scylla, installing the first turbine in early January 2017.

The project was completed four months ahead of schedule and all 67 turbines are now feeding power to the grid.
